Lately we did some sessions in the studio that we called ping-pong-improvisations. There were two or three laptops with ableton live, and every hundred bars we would interchange the computer. Like tihs everyone would have the chance to change each others set, add or mute parts etc. The bove track is made out of pieces that I saved after one of those sessions.

Mon amour

Music for the theatre piece "Mon Amour".
l’Espai d’Arts Visuals d’Amposta and l’Institut del Teatre de Barcelona presented this piece directed by Maria Pons and Beatriz Liebe. A mixed Play and Installation that took place in festival Strobe in Amposta.

Agnus Lupus - Audio installation

I did the acustic part of the installation made for the theatre piece "Agnus Lupus", as shown in the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona on 29th, 30th and 31st of may 2007. Directors: Beatriz Liebe, Maria Pons and Itziar Tesan. The piece consisted of a 30 minute play, after which the audience could step into the scenery while this piece of audio was played. Voices: Annette Merrild, Cristina Robledillo. Music, sounds, arranging and editing by myself.

Suma & Fatima - In a garden

Today we played a improvisation set with our long time friend Frank Rudow - who recently moved to Barcelona and is working here with his new project Suma. He had been invited to make music on a event organized by friends, and he invited us to play together with him. The event took place in a kind of greenhouse and we played ambient music for the invited guests between plants and a surreal exposition. Frank used stones, leaves, flowerpods and found objects for percussion, we played on two laptops, sampling his noises. On our drop-page you can listen to the last 11 minutes of the one and a half hour long improvised ambient set we played.

Mitten im Krieg

A song written by Michael Girke, founding member of fast weltweit . Recorded and edited by Carsten Galle a.k.a. Wireless Artist. Guitars by Hannes. Some singing and some mastering from my side. I got to know this song more than ten years ago when we played it with the band "Lüge!". I actually thought the song would be from Lüge!'s singer Peter Horsch, until we asked him for permission to cover/publish it. He told us that it is from legendary songwriter Michael Girke, we did not manage to contact him until now.

A great song. It's actually about diving and fishes. I forgot to record the best part of the original version, therefore the picture.

¿Ke fem?

Sometimes when recording voice the quality of the sound may be bad. One possible solution is to distord the voice a lot. I recorded this one in a very small room at night, so I had to whisper when recording the singing.

Kaffe in Codols

This track was made with a short recording of me and my flatmates preparing coffee, in the flat in Calle Codols/Barcelona where I once lived. It does not have any other sound, only the cupboard, the cup, the spoon and some hot milk. Kaffe in Codols.mp3

Valse triste de Las Rotas

This is a sad slow instrumental guitar-piece. It uses a drum-sample fron John Convertino/Calexico and in the repitition I put some violins from a Godspeed You Black Emperor-song. I wrote and recorded it in Las Rotas, a small village on the mediterranean coast between Valencia and Almeria. I used a very cheap PC-microphone for recording the guitar.

Mamasita

This song is about emigrating, the first version was for a friend, telling him that he should not come back to the smalltown in germany that he had left. I rewrote it later when he had returned and I myself wanted to leave. It uses a sample from one of my favourite records, but I do not tell you which one ... Mamasita.mp3

Einsam

This song was written in the beginning of the nineties. It was recorded for the short movie "Drinnen ist kein Draussen" (Christine Brandtner/Sigve Haug). I played on a toy-guitar that I had bought on a fleamarket for 5 DM. The song was recorded by Oliver Bitzer with a betacam and one microphone. We published it on the first Los Kunka Boys-CD.
